saturday.

.

and so we go onward and upward to the next adventure!

the plane continued to head west, over the snow capped rocky mountains…

.

.

and into vancouver for the last leg of my trip.

here you can see it’s a foggy day, but you can still make out the north shore mountains, the north shore city, downtown, and the burrard inlet, as well as richmond in the foreground…

.

heather and her family were very kind and offered up their house for my stay, since they were lucky enough to be enjoying peru at the time.  thank you mcdermotts!

.

so here we are in vancouver, looking along the shoreline of downtown.

you can see all the landmarks including the new convention centre jutting out into the water with the green roof.

.

and just on the other side of that green roof, which you can’t see in the previous photo, is the olympic flame, right on the shoreline with that great view of the north shore in the background…

.

after a few days of exploring all my old haunts and eating lots of sushi I made an appointment and got myself a new summer haircut…

.

and then headed out under the granville bridge to granville island with dave for the afternoon, to check out some of the art studios and of course the market.

.

this is the downtown (yaletown) view from granville island, with the classic taxi tug boat and other boat rentals…

.

and of course the burrard bridge with english bay and the mountains in the background…

(had to run across that for the sun run!)

.

yaletown again…

.

and a bit of the view inside the market…

.

.

.

including me noshing on the worlds most fabulous donut (I swear!).

definitely a “10″ on the donut scale.

if not off the charts.

it’s filled with mango, by the way…

.

I got to head out with the gang to the queens’ cross pub, the one that is just up the road from where I used to live, a regular hangout for us back in the day.  here are kristen and rene, acting rather normal for the camera…

.

and the old crew, whom it was so great to hang out with…

.

.

.

and of course the adam woodall band, naturally…

.

ending with a beautiful sunset taken one of the days I was hanging out downtown all day just wandering around and enjoying the scenery…

.

there’s lots more to come, I’m going to have to break down the trip into a few entries, since I took lots of photos!

so stay tuned…
