stop! … flower time.
saturday.
yeah, so like, it’s only been a little while since my last update, so this is some kinda record I think. it’s the long weekend this weekend, which is awesome because it means I not only get my one whole day off this week, but I don’t have skool on monday, so I can do more bugs and makes me some more cash OH MY GOD I LOVE SCHOOL!!
we’re finished with our illustrator lessons and moved on to photoshop this week, which at first I hated (stupid photoshop!) but then by the end of the week photoshop and I had called a truce and were on speaking terms. still not best friends, but at least we weren’t just trying to ignore each other so we’d go away. I can’t wait to show you some of the stuff I’ve been working on. problem is, right now the files are approximately 550 MEGS in size so uh, yeah, I’m gonna have to scale them down a bit first. but they’re SO COOL.

I went a little crazy over the last few weeks and decided that I was FINALLY going to fulfill a lifelong dream of owning a super cool old antique steamship trunk. don’t ask me why I’ve always been fascinated with these things, maybe it’s that they’re so well travelled, maybe it’s because they’re so old and have neat history, or maybe it’s because I can hide all my worthless junk in them and no one is the wiser … but here’s my first ever antique steamship trunk, complete with “Montreal” stickers, that I will do a little restoration on as soon as I have a nanosecond of time for this type of project (ie, it’s a long time off) …

isn’t it cool?
I think that just with some cleaning and metal scrubbing, maybe some varnish or even some stain if I get fancy, and this baby could look REALLY good. so now of course I have my eye on about 3 or 4 more that I’m restraining myself from buying until I actually have a job that can afford these sorts of non-essentials. sorting bugs doesn’t exactly lend itself to extravagant purchases.

obviously I’ve been outside with my camera again. and that almost ALWAYS means close-up flower photos, which you’re being treated to right now. I thought I’d might as well get out on a sunny day and take some photos of the last of this years flowers before the weather turns to crap.

so my life lately has consisted of sorting bugs, going to school, sorting more bugs, working at london drugs, sorting more bugs, and hanging out with martin. although dave and I started hanging out a bit again in order to finish off halo2, and then schemed up a way to borrow his friends xbox360 so we could play halo3 and OHMYGODILOVEIT! we blasted our way through the first 5 levels in only 3 hours. and there are only 9 levels, so we figure one more evening of saving the planet from evil alien overlords and we’re going to have to find another game to play…

I also went out and bought one of the last copies of halo1 for my mac, and I’ve been blasting through the alien scum when I’m over visiting martin. he just bought a shiny new $3000 macbook pro and his head nearly exploded it’s so fast. his last laptop was ridiculously old, and finally just bit it one day, prompting the purchase of the new over-the-top laptop. and man, it’s sweeeeeeet. someday … someday … if I’m lucky …

I’m finally just finishing up the thank you cards for heather’s wedding. ever since I got back from the wedding in ottawa it’s been a rat race to try to keep up with everything, but I’ve managed to squeeze in enough time to churn through them. they’re pretty cute, although not nearly as nice as the invitations or the cd’s. I’ll try to remember to take some photos of the cd’s and the thank you cards and post them too. nothing like shameless self-promotion!

other than that, not much is going on. my social life has come to a screeching halt now that I’m working 2 jobs and going to school full time. but it’s only until the end of may, so I’ll surface then and see if I still have any friends.

I finally got to hang out with my friend henry this week for a lovely brunch of specially-ordered ham and cheese omlettes, which were very tasty. he just got back from a 3 week trip to africa which sounded pretty cool. It makes me feel very un-vacationed right now.

every friday the girls from environment canada and I still get together for lunch, usually sushi as that was always our favourite, and it’s great to be able to keep in touch with them, I was afraid we might lose contact after I left, so I’m happy that they’re able to take the time to hang out once a week and get away from the office. here we are on our first official friday lunch, where we splurged and went to a sit-down sushi restaurant instead of our usual take-out joint, and ordered some yummy sushi boats …

and that’s it for me for this week. tune in next time when Lee-Ann’s life is pretty much exactly the same as it is right now … woohoo, feel the excitement.
